...and we want to reflect that same hospitality in our spaces at Hillside. Showing genuine welcome to our community, offering comfortable, meeting rooms, and providing safe space for folks to gather in worship, discipleship and service are core values of Hillside. 

From the Apostle Paul's letter to the believers in Rome, we're called to "...reach out and welcome one another..." (Romans 15:7, The Message)

​The "Extending Our Welcome" Capital Campaign emphasizes our strong desire to continue serving the KC Northland as a place of hospitality and invitation. 

Extending Our Welcome Purpose

Our campaign purpose is to strengthen and grow the overall ministries of Hillside Christian Church by:
  • Providing Hospitality  (Luke 14:7-14)
  • Producing Disciples  (Acts 16:25-34)
  • Proclaiming Good News  (Isaiah 61:1-4)
  • Extending Our Welcome  (​Romans 15:7-13)

    Extending Our Welcome Priority

    Our campaign priority is to replace the failing main HVAC system with high efficiency units with greater room-by-room control and a significantly reduced carbon footprint.

    ​Second on the priority list is to update the flooring & ceilings in the main hallways. This aesthetic improvement will not only update 50 year-old tiles and textures, but also improve lighting, maintenance and building efficiency.

    Replacing HVAC and updating the hallways will provide improved experiences for everyone who enters the building, and allow our focus to remain on excellent worship, education, and pastoral care. 

    Campaign By the Numbers

    Our goal of $500,000 is split between 2 projects:
    • $417,000 for high efficiency HVAC units for the sanctuary, chapel, hallways, lounge, library, offices, restrooms, and several classrooms. These units will reduce our operational costs overtime, freeing resources toward ministry programs. 
    • $50,000+ for remodeling in the main hallways to replace flooring and make necessary updates.

    ​    As of 5/22/19, we have received pledges totaling over $471,000!! That's 94% of the goal! With a few more pledges, we'll reach our goal and continue extending our welcome by providing hospitality, producing disciples and proclaiming good news!

    A Green Commitment

    Ways to Give

    We're dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint and using less energy, as part of a commitment to caring for the creation God has entrusted to humanity.

    In 2016-2017, we replaced 90% of the lighting in the building with low-energy LED fixtures. In 2019 we replaced the roof over the sanctuary with light-reflecting architectural shingles, which are longer lasting (less waste) and will help keep the sanctuary cooler in the summer months, slightly reducing our dependence on AC. 

    As we update the main HVAC system with much more efficient units, we will continue our commitment to energy savings and care for the planet. 
    Giving at Hillside is easy, and supporting the Capital Campaign is just as simple. On our secure online giving platform, just set up a recurring gift for the Capital Campaign.
